Professional Organising & Decluttering

Clutter and disorganisation can create chaos in our homes and lives, making it difficult to focus and concentrate. Many of us hold on to possessions that no longer serve us, adding to clutter that drains us of energy and time as we struggle to locate and stay on top of our belongings. Decluttering allows us to claim back space in our homes, which can increase productivity and lower stress levels.

Spaces I can help with..

The Nitty Gritty..

My Experience

Having completed hundreds of hours of professional cleaning, I have experienced first hand the overwhelm that clutter can create, making it difficult to function effectively not only in our homes but our lives. This inspired me to undertake training with the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers.

The Process

I offer four hour sessions, which I believe to be an optimum amount of time to stay motivated and make good progress. Whether you are looking for one session to focus on a specific area or multiple sessions to work through a room at a time, we can devise a plan to enable you to achieve your goals.

The process is fairly structured and will take the shape of 'The 4 R's'. As we go through your belongings, we will sort those that are surplus to requirement into the following categories:

Recycling: Possessions that can be taken to the recycling centre or donated to charity.

Re-selling: Valuable items you wish to sell on.

Repurposing: An item may no longer serve us in its current home, however, it's always worth considering whether it could be given a new life and purpose elsewhere in the home.

Rubbish: Unfortunately, it is inevitable that some items may not be in good enough condition to sell or donate to charity. While we want to prevent as many of our belongings ending their life in landfill, the act of doing so reinforces mindful purchasing habits in the future.

Once we have completed the decluttering process, we can start organising. This is the process of assessing the space we have made and maximising its potential when organising your belongings.

I do not hold a waste carriers licence and therefore am unable to take any waste away from your property. Additionally, the conditions of my insurance prevent me from taking items to donate to charity. Therefore, my service is restricted to helping you categorise items that you are letting go of with a focus on signposting you to organisations that can take your belongings.

Who I can help

I am able to help individuals and families looking for help and motivation to sort through clutter and re-organise their space, those who are looking to downsize or get their home ready to sell and those who have had a bereavement and are looking for empathetic support in sorting through a loved one's possessions.

Who I'm unable to help

Unfortunately, I am unable to help with extreme  hoarding, which requires specialist expertise. Please refer to the directory on The Association of Declutterers and Organisers, where you can source specialist organisers who are trained in hoarding.

Areas Covered

I offer decluttering and professional organising in Somerset and North Somerset within a 20 mile radius of TA8.

Getting Started

Should you wish to get in touch, we will talk through your requirements and any questions you may have on the phone. If you are happy, the next stage would be to arrange a free 30 minute initial consultation. This will take place at your home so that we can talk through your objectives and devise a plan of action. There is no obligation and I will leave you to think it through. Should you decide to proceed, you are welcome to get in touch to book a mutually convenient session. During the consultation I will leave you with a copy of my Terms and Conditions, which I would be grateful if you could sign and get back to me before our decluttering / organising session.

Storage

You may have specific storage solutions in mind, and we can talk through this during our initial consultation. One thing to be mindful of is that the process of decluttering often creates storage in itself and therefore it is often wise to wait till the end of the decluttering stage in order that informed decisions can be made regarding storage.

Prices and Payment

I charge a flat rate of £25 per hour, equating to £100 for the four hour session. Should you wish to go ahead after the initial consultation, I ask for a 50% deposit when booking. This is refundable up to 48 hours before the session. If the session is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice the deposit will only be refunded at my discretion. The balance of the payment will be payable at the end of our session.
